A Split Level Garden

Thorpe Langton, Leicestershire

The design requirements for this project centred essentially on creating a level lawn. Given the original garden featured a large sloping lawn, there was scope to produce two lawns on differing levels. In doing so, opportunities arose for incorporating two step features. The first leading to the upper lawn from the terrace, and the second linking the upper and lower lawns. Retaining walls were constructed of stone and two cast iron jardinieres framed the largest set of steps.
